Attendees Frustrated with Voting Issues
The 53rd General Assembly was repeatedly slowed by problems with electronic voting devices, an issue the moderator at one point referred to as "Clicker-gate." Commissioners appeared visibly and audibly frustrated, and reports from the hallways and exhibit area suggest the problem became a common topic of conversation.
The moderator handled the interruptions patiently and repeatedly urged attendees to turn off Wi-Fi hotspots that may have interfered with the voting system, though many commissioners may not have realized their devices were broadcasting a hotspot or contributing to the problem. The result was a frustrating but understandable technology problem in an already demanding Assembly setting.
